Re: New BrainCell setup
BrainCell setup for Windows has been significantly improved and the updated installer is now available at the usual location:
https://neuroalgebra.net/assets/BrainCe ... _Setup.exe
Key improvements:
Self-contained installation:
BrainCell now installs and uses its own Anaconda and NEURON distributions, ensuring consistent behaviour and avoiding potential conflicts across different system configurations.
Robust compatibility and reporting:
The setup program should now work reliably in virtually any system environment. Setup creates an installation log in C:\BrainCell\install.log which should help us track down installation problems if something is not working.
Access:
As before, to start the setup you will need a password which can be found at https://forum.neuroalgebra.net. Please register and log in to access the setup.
Smart cleanup:
If you decide to uninstall BrainCell, the uninstaller will preserve all user-created content (.hoc files and other user data) after removing BrainCell software.
Advanced option:
The /FORCE_EXTERNAL_NEURON command-line switch allows installation without bundled Anaconda and NEURON, though this configuration may not work in all environments (known incompatibility with NEURON 9). We recommend using the default installation for most users.
